Cobra Kai Explains If The Upcoming Karate Kid Film Is Related To The Netflix Series

Cobra Kai

To put an end to speculation over whether Netflix’s Cobra Kai is connected to the next Karate Kid feature, which is set to be released in 2024, co-creator Jon Hurwitz stated that he “knows nothing about it” and that it is unrelated to the fan-favorite Netflix show.

Cobra Kai’s fifth season premiered on Netflix on September 9, 2022, to largely positive reviews from fans and critics alike, with praise concentrating on the plot’s entertainment value, superb writing, and performances by the cast.

Cobra Kai clarifies the series has nothing to do with the upcoming Karate Kid film

In the tweet referenced above, Jon Hurwitz stated that he’d “love to do Karate Kid and Cobra Kai movies and hope to eventually.” He went on to say that the previously announced Karate Kid movie is “not from us or centered on the Cobra Kai guys.” Sony Columbia Pictures has officially confirmed a new Karate Kid film for June 7, 2024, just days after Netflix released the fifth season of Cobra Kai.

There is currently no information known about the plot, actors, or crew. Because of the timing of the announcement, many fans on social media speculated on whether the film was tied to the well-known Netflix series.

Fans may be disappointed now that Jon Hurwitz has revealed that the two concepts have nothing in common. Several significant events occurred during the fifth season of the popular Netflix series. The official season 5 summary is as follows, according to Netflix’s YouTube channel:

“Following the unexpected outcomes of the All Valley Tournament, Sensei Terry Silver is expanding the Cobra Kai empire and seeking to make his “No Mercy” brand of karate the only game in town.”

With Kreese imprisoned and Johnny Lawrence focused on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must seek help from an old acquaintance.

In the season finale, we saw Kreese in prison, absolutely depressed and dejected. Meanwhile, tensions rise as Dan, Johnny, and Chozen are nearly killed in a car accident. Chozen and Johnny then got into an altercation with Mike, but Daniel stepped in.

The season ended with a shocking discovery about Kreese, anticipating the series’ next intriguing episode. The show’s importance and popularity have grown as the fifth season has received widespread critical acclaim.
