Choi Jung-hoon, an active member of the South Korean indie rock band JANNABI, issued an official apology on August 6 for the band’s actions during the 2022 Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival. The musician apologized to the other artists and their fans on August 7 for the inconvenience his “careless words” caused.

The band member was embroiled in a controversy about his behavior, with many accusing him of being antagonistic toward other artists.

In response, the singer of Take My Hand issued an apology and said that the band will be more careful in the future when choosing the appropriate words to convey their message.

We didn’t intend it that way, but we didn’t realize it could be viewed that way. We will avoid repeating this mistake in the future. Thank you for your visit! ”

What did JANNABI’s Choi Jung-hoon say during the Pentaport Rock Festival in 2022?

JANNABI, a popular indie rock band, is scheduled to perform at the Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival in 2022. On the program for the festival are Nell, Vampire Weekend, JAURIM, and Japanese Breakfast, among others.

Following JANNABI, the festival’s headlining act, American rock band Vampire Weekend, was scheduled to perform. According to allkpop, some South Korean netizens criticized Choi Jung-hoon of JANNABI for his comments.

When the singer reminisced about the band’s humble origins, everything began to fall apart. Choi Jung-words hoon’s cited:

“In 2017, we were the Pentaport super rookies, and we were the very first act on the smallest stage. Yet, bit by step, we’ve made it all the way here.” The impediment was not far away… We have no idea who the next band will be… Just go home. Our song, “Come Back Home,” will be performed, and then we will depart.”

Others have even asserted that JANNABI’s unscheduled encore caused Vampire Weekend to be late. Currently, JANNABI comprises three individuals.

Kim Do-Hyung, the band’s guitarist, joined the military in June 2020, while Jang Kyung-Joon, the bassist, enlisted in January 2021. The band’s lead vocalist, Choi Jung-hoon, continues to promote the group through his individual endeavors.

Two years later, the 2022 Pentaport Rock Festival reopened with a member of BTS present.

In South Korea, the Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival is one of the largest rock events. It includes folk and emo music but focuses primarily on rock and electronic music. This year’s event also had a member of BTS in attendance.

On August 7, the leader of BTS, RM, posted photos of himself relaxing on the grass of the Songdo Moonlight Festival Park with the Incheon Pentaport stage in all its glory in front of him.

He also uploaded a photo with the alternative K-pop group Balming Tiger, whose frontman is a close friend of BTS’s leader.

Due to the outbreak, the festival had been held online for the previous two years, therefore the return of an offline stage made headlines. The incident occurred on August 5 and 7, 2022.
