Later, he moved to Washington, D.C. to work as a Washington Correspondent for The Charlotte Observer. Charles was named the Capitol Hill Bureau Chief after covering the 2004 presidential election for the Washington Times. He lasted at his role until 2007 when he left to join the staff of The New York Post. Hurt returned to The Washington Times as a political journalist in 2011. Since last year, he’s been covering the presidential primaries on and off, and he’s been a regular contributor to Fox News, C-Span, and radio shows around the country.
