The cause of death of Dave Hollis has been determined, months after the former Disney executive and ex-husband of “Girl, Wash Your Face” author Rachel Hollis passed away at age 47.

NBC News obtained the autopsy report from the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office in Austin, Texas, which stated that Hollis perished from the “toxic effects of cocaine, ethanol, and fentanyl.”

According to the National Institutes of Health, high blood pressure and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, which occurs when plaque forms in the arteries, were also listed as contributing conditions in the report. According to the report, Hollis’ cause of death was deemed accidental.

Hollis was discovered unresponsive when authorities arrived at his residence in February and pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the M.E., Hollis had a history of hypertension, depression, and drug and alcohol addiction. Hollis also had a “dilated and enlarged heart,” per the report.

The underlying natural disease of Mr. Hollis’ heart would have predisposed him to develop an abnormal rhythm, especially in the presence of a stimulant substance such as cocaine, according to the report.

A family representative confirmed to TODAY.com on February 14 that Hollis passed away peacefully at home in Austin, Texas on February 11, adding, “Although the exact cause of death is unknown, his family confirms he had been hospitalized recently for heart issues.”

Hollis is survived by the four children he had with his ex-wife: Jackson, Sawyer, Ford, and Noah. The couple tied the knot in 2004 and proclaimed their separation in 2020.

Following the demise of her ex-husband, Rachel Hollis requested prayers in an Instagram post.

“We are devastated,” wrote the author. “I am speechless, and my heart is too shattered to find any. Please cover the children in prayer as we attempt to navigate the unfathomable.”

On the February 27 episode of “The Rachel Hollis Podcast,” she stated that her ex-husband’s passing was unexpected.

“We still have no idea what transpired. “I discovered after the fact that he had visited the hospital several times due to heart problems,” she said. “Therefore, I believe it’s very likely that he had a heart attack, but I don’t know for sure, and whatever caused his death, we’re still in the same place, which is profound grief.”

In 2018, Dave Hollis departed Disney to work with his then-wife. He authored “Get Out of Your Own Way: A Skeptic’s Guide to Growth and Fulfillment” and “Built Through Courage: Face Your Fears to Live the Life You Were Meant to Live.”

He authored the children’s book “Here’s to Your Dreams!: A Teatime with Noah Book” in 2022.
