Bubba Wallace began racing at the age of nine. He began racing in the Banddero and Legends car racing series. Similarly, he had participated in local late model events. In 2008, he won 35 of the 48 Bandolero races. He had become the youngest driver to win at Virginia’s Franklin County Speedway.

In 2010, he began racing competitively. He also made his NASCAR Pro Series East debut and signed as a development driver with Joe Gibbs Racing. Bubba won his first race in the series pole at Greenville Pickens Speedway. Wallace made his national series debut in the Xfinity Series in late May of 2012.
