Bjørn Gulden Is Announced As The New CEO Of “Adidas”

Bjørn Gulden

The German sportswear manufacturer Adidas has chosen Bjrn Gulden to be its next CEO. Gulden, who had held the position of CEO of Puma, will succeed Kasper Rorsted.

In January 2023, he will take over as CEO of Adidas AG. Adidas’ CEO since 2016 Kasper Rorsted decided to leave the firm in August 2022, and he will formally step down on November 11, 2022. The label will be run by Chief Financial Officer Harm Ohlmeyer through January 2023. Gulden will thereafter take over as the company’s CEO.

The new CEO of Adidas, Bjorn Gulden, was formerly employed by Puma, a competitor sportswear manufacturer.
Arild Gulden, a former international handball and football player, gave birth to Bjrn on June 4, 1965. After serving as Senior Vice President of Apparel and Accessories at Adidas from 1992 to 1999, he has been the CEO of Puma since 2013.

In 2012, Gulden served as the CEO of the Danish jewelry manufacturer Pandora. He served as managing director of Deichmann, the largest shoe retailer in Europe, from 2000 to 2011, where he was in charge of organizations like Off Broadway Shoes and Rack Room Shoes.

He held several executive positions at Helly Hansen before the year 2000. Like his father, Gulden played professional handball and football. He participated in both the Bundesliga of the Norwegian Premier League and FC Nürnberg in Germany.

He also participated in handball with Haslum in Norway’s premier league. In a formal news release, Thomas Rabe, the chairman of Adidas’ supervisory board, announced Bjrn Gulden’s entrance, saying:

“Bjrn Gulden is returning to Adidas, and we are thrilled to have him.” Bjrn Gulden has more than 30 years of experience working in the footwear and sporting goods businesses. Because of this, he is well-versed in the industry and has a sizable network in both sports and retail.

Bjrn Gulden served Adidas well for seven years throughout the 1990s. As CEO, he revived the Puma brand and oversaw the company’s record-breaking revenues. The Adidas AG Supervisory Board anticipates a successful partnership with Bjrn Gulden as he leads Adidas into a new era of strength.
