Ben Stein Is Facing Backlash After He Made A Racist Remark About Aunt Jemima Syrup

Ben Stein

Ben Stein, a lawyer, and actor have landed in hot water after launching into a racist rant about Aunt Jemima’s pancake syrup.

Ron Filipkowski posted a video on Twitter on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, lamenting the days when the syrup brand prominently featured a caricature of a “big African-American lady” on its bottle.

Following the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, the corporation removed the image from the brand’s logo in 2021. After hearing the lawyer’s outburst, Twitter users were outraged. They immediately took to microblogging to condemn him.

Pearl Milling Company replaced Aunt Jemima. In the summer of 2021

After declaring that he was cooking “breakfast for supper,” Stein was spotted clutching an old bottle of Aunt Jemima pancake syrup. He then expressed his dissatisfaction with the company’s new look, saying:

“Because of America’s inherent bigotry in business, they chose to make it a white person, or perhaps no one at all.”

After expressing his admiration for the original logo design, Stein controversially added:

“However, I love it when a Black person shows off their incredible skill at making pancakes.”

Following years of public criticism that the caricature on the syrup bottles perpetuated racist stereotypes, Pepsi Co. discontinued using Aunt Jemima’s well-known image, with a larger racial reckoning coming in 2020 after George Floyd’s murder. They also changed the name to Pearl Milling Company, after the company that created the original Aunt Jemima trademark.

“Why make this video?” irritated online users ask, referring to Ben Stein’s racist statements.

Ben Stein’s dubious claims astounded and terrified netizens. He was accused of “willfully stupidity.” Several people have pointed out that the actor prefers the days when people could openly be racist.

Some speculated that the brand’s “racist marketing took in the 78-year-old.” Following the 78-year-remarks, old’s one user, @chipgoines, remarked sarcastically that he now understands why the protagonist from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off ignored Stein’s character.

Ben Stein, who is he?

Stein is a conservative lawyer and actor known for his political and economic commentary. He worked as an economist at the Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C., and as a trial lawyer at the Federal Trade Commission. He then moved to the west coast to teach politics and civil rights at the University of California, Berkeley.

Following the success of his editorials, the 78-year-old became a speechwriter for Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. His efforts resulted in him consulting on Hollywood films, where he helped “liberal authors portray traditional households.” Several advertisements and films were immediately shown to the lawyer.

His peculiar stone-faced expression and deadpan line delivery earned him roles as dull and unemotional character. The speechwriter is best known for his work on Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and for hosting the game show Earn Ben Stein’s Money.
