At Book Festival, Queen Consort Meets The Author Sebastian Faulks

Sebastian Faulks

On Friday night at the inaugural Braemar Literary Festival, Camilla had a chance encounter with author Sebastian Faulks. Near the royal Balmoral castle, the Queen Consort attended a book festival.

The Royal Family’s favorite Scottish village Fife Arms Hotel hosted the occasion.

The Queen Consort has more than six literary patronages and has already given out the renowned Booker Prize.

The popularity of the reading lists Camilla posted during the epidemic in 2020 served as the impetus for the founding of her book club Instagram account, The Reading Room, in January 2021.

She uses it to express her love of reading and has received acclaim for promoting literature from renowned novelist Sir Philip Pullman.

On Saturday, Sebastian Faulks was scheduled to speak on stage about his wartime thriller, “Charlotte Gray.” Other authors scheduled to speak include cuisine writer Tom Parker Bowles, Scottish author Jackie Kay, and Kate Mosse.

Reading programs have always received backing from the Queen Consort. She has previously urged parents to “guide them on a trip of discovery” by reading to their kids every day.

She has already talked about how happy reading to her every night by her father made her.

After the Queen’s funeral, King Charles and Queen Camilla traveled north and paid trips to Dunfermline and Edinburgh last week. The couple spent a large portion of the early years of the King’s reign in Scotland.
