Michael Savarino began his basketball career at Durham Academy in North Carolina. During his high school career, he captained the Cavaliers’ Varsity boys’ team twice. Savarino’s career free-throw percentage was 91 percent, and his three-point percentage was 35 percent. In addition, he appeared in 87 games over three seasons, averaging 7 points and three rebounds in his junior year.
