Jesy Nelson

Jesy Nelson rose to recognition as a member of the British girl group Little Mix. Nelson quit Little Mix in December 2020, claiming her issues with mental health as the cause. In 2011, Little Mix was the first group to win the X Factor, making history.

Sadly, Nelson was repeatedly the target of internet bullying because of her size. She attempted suicide in 2013 as a result of the abuse. Jesy would starve herself ahead of gigs or video shoots before going on binges.

Jesy’s mom struggled financially after completing her divorce from Jesy’s dad

John and Janice Nelson welcomed Jesy Nelson into the world in Romford, East London, on June 14, 1991. Janis works as a police community support officer, while John is a businessman. Jesy grew up with a younger brother Joseph, an elder brother Jonathan, and an older sister Jade.

When Jesus was five years old, John and Janice divorced. Janice’s financial situation was made more difficult by the divorce because she was given custody of the kids. Janice remarked in the BBC program Odd One Out:

“I recall that we relocated, rented a home, and slept on mattresses. I left the milk out in the garden since we couldn’t afford a refrigerator. For a very long time, it was like that.”

The Sun reported in 2016 that Jesy and her father have a strained relationship. According to the story, John was detained after his Range Rover was involved in a hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of a man. The Sun asserted that Jesy didn’t try to get in touch with him.

Janice helped Jesy overcome the trials of online bullying

Little Mix became the first group to win X-Factor in 2011, permanently inking their mark in history. Janice needed a few weeks to recover from the shock of her daughter’s incredible accomplishment. Janice stated to the Romford Recorder:

They worked so hard for it, therefore they have done great work. Since they started as underdogs and now have made X Factor history, they are all pinching themselves at their victory. They continuously stated that they had no faith in their ability to get to this point.

Sadly, Jesy’s family experienced exhilaration that was short-lived as internet abuse pushed her on a downhill spiral that almost led to death. Jesy supported her daughter through the most trying circumstances, but she didn’t want her hardships to be made public in BBC’s Odd One Out. Jesus stated,

“My mom is frightened about making this documentary. The other day, she sobbed.

Janice bemoaned having “lost her daughter to social media” and wished for a return to life as it had been before the X Factor. The band’s biggest fan, she admitted, although she afterward regretted letting Jesy try out. John said:

“I’m the crowd’s loudest supporter. Even while I adore all of that, and people must wonder how you can say that, if I could turn back time and have my Jes as she once was, I would alter it in that way. not possess the X Factor or something similar. because I long for her. I simply feel as though I have lost Jess to social media. addicted to the opinions of others.

Jesy was able to deal with the criticism with the help of her mother. In a September 2019 Instagram snapshot of herself and Janice, Jesy stated,

“My Mom saw me at some of my lowest times after winning X Factor.”

She was anxious about me recording my documentary #OddOneOut, but she has witnessed my journey since then. She plays a huge role in this movie, and I feel tremendously lucky to have such a wonderful mother.

Jesy blames her absent father for her attraction to bad boys

Jesy has attributed her affinity for bad boys to her absent father. She contends that she makes poor dating choices as a result of the lack of strong male role models in her life. The Mirror quoted Jesy as saying:

Dad wasn’t around when I was growing up. I haven’t had many excellent male role models in my life because my dad wasn’t the best; he was in and out of prison.

Perhaps this is where it comes from. It’s not good that I’m immediately drawn to those who appear a little mischievous. I genuinely fall in love with someone if they have gold teeth.

Nelson claimed that she is unable to withstand “naughty” men. Currently, it is claimed that she and Harry James, her ex-boyfriend, have reconciled. It is doubtful that Jesy has made amends with her estranged father based on her words.

Jesy Nelson has faced criticism from fans for blackfishing

By accusing Jesy Nelson of blackfishing, fans have tarnished her much anticipated musical comeback. The phrase refers to white people’s efforts to pass for black or is culturally ambiguous.

Jesus makes an appearance in the Boyz music video with dreadlocks and a tanned complexion. Jesy questioned why she never faced such criticism when a member of Little Mix in an interview with Vulture. She uttered:

“I never received any of it the entire time I was in Little Mix. After I left [the band], people started bringing it up all of a sudden. Since I wasn’t using social media at the time, I let my team handle it since I had just left.

Jesy acknowledged her white heritage while professing her love for Black culture.

Nelson remarked,

“I mean, like, I love Black culture.

I cherish Black music. I’ve grown up with that, so that’s all I know. I’ve never denied being a white British woman; I’m extremely conscious of it.
