All You Need To Know About DMX Masters

DMX

DMX(Earl Simmons), better known by his stage name, was an American rapper and actor who rose to stardom in the 1990s for his husky, upbeat rhyming style and electrifying on-stage performances. It’s Dark and Hell is Hot, his debut album received plaudits from both critics and fans alike when it was released in 1998.

Party Up, a blockbuster tune from his most popular album And Then There Was X from 1999, was released (Up in Here). As the first artist to have five successive albums debut at number one on the Billboard 200, DMX made history. Sadly, DMX went away in April 2021 from a suspected drug overdose-induced heart attack.

Thus, his estate’s distribution has come up for discussion on online forums. The ownership of DMX’s masters is now unknown because there is a rumor that they have been bought. This article will attempt to identify the owner of DMX’s masters.

According to an online rumor, Jay Z and Beyonce bought 99DMX’s masters for his children

Twitter users thanked Jay Z and Beyonce for caring for the late rapper’s children as the unverified Phenomenal Reporters account claimed that Jay Z and Beyonce had paid $10 million for the masters of DMX’s music “to give to his [DMX’s] kids for free.” The allegation quickly gained traction.

The rumor is still unproven, and the participants in the alleged transaction have not yet responded. A song or performance’s original recording is referred to as the “master.” U.S. copyright law protects the original audio.

According to a Snopes study, neither Jay Z nor Beyonce owns the rights to DMX’s most well-known songs. Furthermore, the myth misrepresents DMX’s family, stating that he has 17 children when in fact he only has 15.

Since there are no records of Jay Z and Beyonce holding DMX’s masters, the assertion is probably incorrect. No trustworthy authority has additionally confirmed the rumor. So, it stands to reason that the rumor is untrue.

DMX insisted that they had no animosity toward Jay Z

The first time Jay Z and DMX worked together was in 1995, at the producer Irv Gotti’s request. Together, they and Ja Rule created Murder Inc., a group that released the songs Murdergram and It’s Murda. But they never put out an album, and according to Ja Rule and Irv, the conflict between Jay Z and DMX made the studio unworkable.

Ja Rule said to MTV News, “We couldn’t get X and Jay in the same room. DMX characterized his connection with Jay Z as a rivalry in an interview with Sway Calloway in 2012. He continued by saying that although he thought of Jay Z as a rival, he didn’t mean any harm. DMX stated:

“You’re not going to like them when you play another [sports] squad. That doesn’t imply that you wish them dead or that you want to hurt them physically. We always fought, and that’s why I didn’t like him. I had no malice toward him. I did not know him well enough to dislike him.

Although they were never close, DMX claims that he and Jay Z finally “earned each other’s friendship.” In the locker room, there is no high-fiving, chest-bumping, or anything similar, according to DMX. “None of that is going here,”
