How did Victor Davis Hanson start his Professional Career?

Hanson is a writer on modern politics and warfare who has written for The Washington Times, National Review, and other outlets. He taught classics at California State University, Fresno, before retiring in 2004 and taking a position as a visiting professor at Hillsdale College.

However, his 2001 best-seller Carnage and Culture: Landmark Battles in the Rise of Western Power is what really brought him to prominence.

Hanson also writes a weekly column for Tribune Media Services that has been published in The New York Times, The New Criterion, and American Heritage. In 2006, he began writing blogs for PJ Media. He is currently a Claremont Institute Fellow in California Studies and a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution. In addition, he founded the classics department at California State University and is now an emeritus professor there.

In 2007, President George W. Bush awarded him the National Humanities Medal for all of his hard work. There can be no doubt that he is among the all-time great columnists. His ability to articulate his views on current events, politics, and even leaders like Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in his books and essays is remarkable, as is his willingness to express exactly what he thinks.
