Actress and vocalist Nichelle Nichols passed away on July 30 at the age of 89. Her business colleague and talent manager Gilbert Bell informed her of the development. Nichelle Johnson’s son Kyle Johnson paid tribute to his mother on the website Uhura.com, writing:
I’m sorry to inform you that a lovely light that has been blazing for us for so long has stopped doing so in the firmament. Her brilliance will endure for us and future generations to enjoy, learn from, and be inspired by, just like the recently discovered ancient galaxies.
