In relation to Alfie Woollett’s death, Alfie had attended a fancy dress Party at the club and was asked to leave by security because he was “intoxicated,” according to testimony given during a coroner’s inquest into his death held at Pontypridd Coroners’ Court. However, Alfie, a Cardiff Met student, attempted to reenter Kings by scaling the back of the building’s Fire escape.

Alfie, who was born in Medway, Kent, fell and suffered severe brain injuries before passing away. According to toxicological results, the young man was more than four times over the legal drink-drive limit at the time of his death. According to the coroner, that was “a level which in itself can be lethal.”

“He and his friends had gone to a fancy dress party at the Kings nightclub in Cardiff, but he was sent away because of his intoxication,” said Dr. Sarah-Jane Richards, an assistant coroner.

“Mr. Woollett then attempted to ascend the Fire escape at the back of the building, but he lost his balance and fell, suffering severe head injuries that he did not survive.”

The back entrance to the Kings nightclub was where life was declared extinct.
