After Taylor Hawkins Died, Members Of Foo Fighters Return To The United States

Taylor Hawkins

Taylor Hawkins unexpectedly passed away in Bogota, Colombia, according to TMZ, and Dave Grohl and the other Foo Fighters band members have since returned to the United States. The publication released images of the musicians and crew embracing one other.

Several others, including Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Rami Jaffee, Samantha Sidley, and John Silva, were seen in these pictures looking incredibly upset after arriving in Los Angeles.

At age 50, Hawkins passed away in his hotel room in Bogota, Colombia, on Friday. He was the drummer for the Foo Fighters. The band was initially scheduled to perform at the Estereo Picnic Festival and was subsequently scheduled to be one of the leading performers at Lollapalooza Brazil on Sunday.

Taylor Hawkins’ contribution to the Foo Fighters

Before joining British-Canadian singer Sarah “Sass” Jordan in the early 1990s, Hawkins started his career with the California-based local band, Sylvia. Later, the Texas native played drums for Alanis Morissette from the mid-1990s to 1997. One of the most well-known artists Taylor Hawkins had collaborated with before joining the Foo Fighters was Alanis Morissette.

Grohl created the Foo Fighters in 1994, directly out of Nirvana after the death of grunge music legend Kurt Cobain. But William Goldsmith left the band due to a fight between Grohl and the previous drummer. During this time, Grohl got in touch with Hawkins to ask her to join the Foo Fighters.

Following Goldsmith’s resignation, Hawkins was supposedly confirmed as the band’s new member on March 18, 1997 (nearly 25 years before the drummers’ sad end).

According to Absolutely Fabulous! by Alan di Perna According to, published in Guitar World in 1997, Grohl was initially unsure whether Hawkins would join the Foo Fighters because the drummer was associated with Morissette, who was a more prominent musician at the time.

However, Taylor Hawkins’ decision to join the Foo Fighters astounded Grohl. Hawkins allegedly made it clear at the time that he preferred playing in a rock band as the drummer over Morissette’s solo performance.

Hawkins told RadioX in 2017 about the day he joined the Foo Fighters:

When Dave called to inquire about joining the Foo Fighters, I was watching Showgirls at my rented home in Topanga Canyon.

Hawkins continued, saying similar things:

It’s a beautiful day. “I’ll always have Showgirls and Dave’s phone call telling me you’re in the Foo Fighters connected in my head, which is incredible.”

Hawkins contributed to the creation of one EP and more than eight studio albums after joining the Foo Fighters. His last recording with the group was Medicine at Midnight, their ninth album.
