Dennis Prager was born on August 2, 1948, in New York to parents Max and Hilda Prager. He attended the Yeshiva of Flatbush Jewish day school and was nurtured in an orthodox Jewish family of the modern day.
He attended Brooklyn College after high school and majored in History and Middle Eastern Studies. Prager attended a few courses at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and the University of Leeds before opting to discontinue his studies.
In addition, Pepperdine University gave him an honorary Doctor of Laws degree. Prager’s professional career began in 1969 when, while studying in London, he was contracted to interview Soviet Jews in the Soviet Union.
Following his return, the organization Student Struggle for Soviet Jewry recruited him, and he rapidly became the group’s spokesperson. Prager was also appointed director of the Brandeis-Bardin Institute in 1976.
The native of Brooklyn was hired in 1982 to host Religion on the Line, a Sunday night religious discussion program on the commercial radio station KABC in Los Angeles.
In addition, he began publishing Ultimate Problems, a quarterly magazine, in 1985, which evolved into The Prager Viewpoint, a biweekly journal, in 1995.
