Actor, Paul Mescal Discusses His Anger After A “Creepy” Fan Grabbed Him

Paul Mescal, an Oscar contender, expressed his disgust after a fan molested him after requesting a photo outside the theater where he was playing.

“When we stood for the photograph, she placed her hand on my buttocks,” he told ES Magazine.

The Irish actor was spotted outside the Almeida Theatre in London, where he was performing in A Streetcar Named Desire.

“I believed it was a mistake, therefore I walked away. The hand nevertheless followed. I remember tensing up and felt just, like, wrath.”

When asked what he did next, Mescal responded, “I asked her, ‘What are you doing?’ Remove your hand off my rear.”

He told the newspaper that calling someone out in front of the theater was “the last thing I want to do,” adding, “It’s awkward for everyone concerned.

“But it was not acceptable. It was so vile and eerie.”

Paul Mescal claimed that 97% of his popularity had been “very pleasant” while the remaining 3% consisted of “someone groping your ass.”

Mescal has received acclaim for his performance as Stanley in the Tennessee Williams plays that will relocate to London’s West End next month.

He is also nominated for best actor at this year’s Academy Awards for his part as Calum, a man with mental health challenges who is on vacation with his 11-year-old daughter, in Aftersun.

He is up against Austin Butler for Elvis, Colin Farrell for The Banshees of Inisherin, Brendan Fraser for The Whale, and Bill Nighy for Living, and was also nominated for the Bafta for best actor.

About the Oscars ceremony on March 12, he stated, “Hey, I’m not winning. So the stakes are really minimal, and I can basically just relax and enjoy myself.”
