Aaron Latham, the husband of Leslie Stahl, passed away on July 23 at the age of 78. At the time of his passing, he was a patient at the Pennsylvania hospital Bryn Mawr. In 2020, Aaron was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and received Covid-19.

Leslie told a news outlet that she and Aaron contracted the sickness simultaneously. Leslie also mentioned that she was hospitalized after acquiring pneumonia and that she swiftly recovered. She stated that her husband’s Parkinson’s disease was aggravated by the virus.

Latham was born in Spur, Dickens County, West Texas, near Lubbock, on October 3, 1943, to Cecil Clyde Latham and Annie Launa Cozby. He attended Tucson, Arizona’s Catalina High School before enrolling at Princeton University in New Jersey.

Aaron was a writer for The Washington Post and New York magazine, where he covered the Watergate scandal. Latham co-wrote the screenplay for the film Urban Cowboy with director James Bridges. He also co-wrote the book for the Broadway adaptation in 2003.

The pair discussed their first meeting in 1977, stating that Latham saw Stahl on television and they subsequently met in person. Latham stated that he turned on the television to watch Stahl and found her to be stunning.

When asked about their first date, Latham stated that he did not have to worry about his ability to speak because he did not have the chance. In 1977, they wed and had a daughter named Taylor Stahl Latham.
