Nassar congratulated the pair on their engagement with the words, “I can’t wait to start growing together through this adventure called life, and I just can’t picture mine without you anymore.” In a message for Valentine’s Day, Gates and the equestrian confessed to dating since January 2017. Since then, the couple has shared numerous Instagram posts about their relationship.

Fouad Nassar and Imam Harby welcomed Nayel Nassar into the world on January 21, 1991. Nassar is descended from Egyptians. Nassar captioned a June 2016 post,

He was born in Chicago but spent most of his young life in Kuwait. Nayel captioned a 2017 post, “Memorable days in Kuwait last week with family and old friends.”
